F. Allison Smith was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She and her younger brother, Clarke, have been imitating and reenacting cartoons since they could talk. One of their favorite ones is Chuck Jones’s “What’s Opera Doc?” a.k.a. “Kill the wabbit! Kill The Wabbit! KILL THE WABBIT!!!”
During elementary and middle school, Allison discovered that it was much more fun to be funny than serious. She took acting classes and competed in drama tournaments, winning several trophies for humorous interpretation. She was hooked. She spent most of high school in the drama department performing in both plays and musicals. Some of her favorites include the following: “Brigadoon”, “Li’l Abner”, and “You Can’t Take It With You.”
After graduating, Allison headed out to Los Angeles to study Theatre at the University of Southern California. There she was dubbed a “Theatre Everything” and graduated receiving the USC School of Theatre Alumni & Friends Award for Most Promising Graduate.
Allison then went on to study her dream: voice over. She has studied commercial voice overs at Kalmenson & Kalmenson as well as animation with Bob Bergen. A cartoon fanatic, Allison believes the coolest job in the world is to make people laugh and she is a firm believer that life is more fun when you’re animated!
